The use of natural dyes to color textiles in Peru (and other objects) has a long history in Andean South America, from pre-Hispanic times until today. Andean people have a rich knowledge of how to use the great diversity of plants in their environment for medicinal purposes and natural colouring dyes. After the yarn is dyed, they are then weaved into beautiful pieces of textile art! At #EnigmaPeru, they believe that the centuries old craft of weaving isn’t just a hobby, but a way of life and living culture of many Peruvians, and love to share this experience with guests.
