Eclectic Greece features Paros, among the most popular islands of the Cyclades. Located in the heart of the Aegean Sea, Paros is ideal for young people, romantic couples as well as families. The island’s traditional villages such as Naoussa, Parikia and Lefkes are all perfect samples of the Cycladic architecture, featuring whitewashed cubic houses, paved streets and blue-domed churches. The beaches are famous for their exotic waters and golden sand. On the south eastern side of the island beaches are particularly popular for windsurfing. We highly recommend a day trip to the neighboring island of Antiparos, a new hip destination featuring great beaches and an alternatively unique atmosphere and crowd.
Paros harbor is a major hub for all the ferries with several daily connections between Piraeus and rafina (the two ports of Athens), Heraklion and other Cycladic islands such as Naxos, Ios, Koufonissia, Santorini and Mykonos. Connection to Antiparos is only by ferry departing from Alyki and by private motor boat from the port of Parikia.
Staying at the main town of Parikia is not recommended as this is a busy touristy area away from the main beaches. On the other hand, staying around the areas of Naoussa and Santa Maria is highly recommended to those looking to have quick access to the beach and to the island’s vivid nightlife.
