Speaking of Machu Picchu, we'd like to share the explanation of the Machu Picchu Circuits with these details from Enigma Peru:

Much information is spread in the news around the ever-changing and quite-confusing Machu picchu capacity numbers, circuits, quotas and times to visit. We have therefore prepared a succinct but comprehensive summary for you to understand the options available and be duly informed, in the case of clients asking. Please keep in mind that the adequate purchase of your most suitably scheduled entrance fees to Machu picchu, matching circuits and train services to reduce wait times and crowds, remains our job. So please sit back and relax, as this is merely for information purposes. Our office team, guides and concierges will make sure your visit is as smooth as possible .

SEASONS & CAPACITY- High Season (June 19-November 2, December 30 & 31, April 17-20): 5,600 visitors per day- Rest of Year: 4,500 per day. In average, Machu picchu spaces are fully sold in over 95% of the year dates, and circuits with available spaces run out between 3 months and a few days before, depending on the year season. For all Enigma confirmed files, our team makes sure to purchase Machupicchu entrance fees as soon as the down payment is received. Please keep in mind that any entrance fees purchased are non-refundable, except in exceptional force majeure cases approved by the Peruvian government.

CIRCUITS There are THREE MAIN CIRCUITS available in Machu Picchu:

Circuit 1 - PanoramicThis circuit probably offers the shortest route of all available, and is subdivided into 4 options:- Circuit 1a (max. 7h): includes Machu Picchu Mountain and a panoramic walking route surrounding the main citadel.- Circuit 1b (max. 2h): the shortest route of all, it offers a purely panoramic visit of the citadel. We find it adequate for visitors with two entrance fees, as an introductory first overview of the site, to then do a more thorough visit with an additional entrance fee in the following day.- Circuit 1c (max. 4h): includes the famed Sun Gate or Inti Punku, entry point for visitors coming from the Inca Trail hike, and the same panoramic walking route surrounding the main citadel included in all other options. This circuit is only operating during high season.- Circuit 1d (max. 3h): same as the previous 1c, but including the Inca Bridge instead of the Sun Gate or Inti Punku. Again, this circuit is only available for bookings in the high season.

Circuit 2 - ClassicCircuit 2 is the most popular option for first-time visitors and also one-entry-only visitors, as it covers about 80% of the site. This is actually the most complete and comprehensive route into the Inca citadel, allowing both the exploration of the lower and richer section of the site, where the most iconic temples are located, additionally to the picture-panoramic overlook of Machu Picchu from above. This circuit is subdivided into 2 options, with only a slight difference between them to ease the flow of visitors:- Circuit 2a (max. 2,5h): main Inca citadel visit plus a global site overview from a lower platform.- Circuit 2b (max. 2,5h): main Inca citadel visit plus a global site overview from an upper platform.

Circuit 3 - Machu Picchu RoyaltyThis is the most adequate circuit for limited-mobility guests, including wheel-chair assisted ones. Offering a flatter route along the lower section of the citadel, it is the easier option to avoid climbing the usually irregular Inca steps up and down. This is also the circuit assigned by default to all guests arriving into Machu Picchu from the Inca Trail, as the route arriving from this trail already covers the citadel's upper panoramic view. This circuit is again subdivided into 4 options:- Circuit 3a (max. 6h): includes the regular route plus access to Huayna Picchu Mountain.- Circuit 3b (max. 2,5h): includes just the regular route without add-ons. This is the less physically demanding route, perfect for less-active travellers.- Circuit 3c (max. 7h): includes the regular route plus access to the Moon Temple. Only available during high season.- Circuit 3d (max. 3,5h): includes the regular route plus access to Huchuy Picchu (the little hill before Huayna Picchu). Again, this circuit is only available for bookings in the high season.

VISITING HOURS· Opening hours: From 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.· Last entry: 3:00 p.m. Maximum stay time at the citadel: depends on each circuit, kindly refer to the information given above under the circuit section.

FAQs· Do I have to decide at what time my clients want to visit or take care of defining circuits? Not at all and not with us at Enigma - this is our job. Kindly let us know wishes and premises of your clients at the moment of the booking confirmation at the latest, and we will very gladly take care.  In case no specific information is provided at the time of booking, we will make sure to choose the most adequate option according to availability and guests' interests. The schedule and circuit chosen will be informed to you in written.· Can I book or block a time slot until my clients decides their preferred time and circuit to visit? No, unfortunately, not. Spaces are guaranteed only once defined and paid for. This is the reason why we choose to issue the permits as soon as the trip is confirmed and paid for.· My client is hiking the Inca Trail and still wants to cover the whole citadel but circuit 3 doesn't allow a full complete visit - what to do?Please let your travel designer at Enigma know as soon as possible and, should there be spaces available for Circuit 2, we would add an extra entrance fee for your guests to also enjoy this part of the citadel.· What do I need to ask my client to make sure I provide the right information for you to manage his Machu Picchu visit in the best way possible? Key information we recommend to get from your client concerns morning starting time for visits, any specific interests they may have in their wish list for the citadel, how much they enjoy walking or hiking, as well as potential health, mobility or fear-of-heights restrictions.
