Portugal by Train with Destination Spain and Portugal

Travelers can take the train and discover Portugal at their own pace, with experiences curated by our DMC partner Destination Spain and Portugal. Rocked by the rhythm, they can admire dream landscapes from their window, whether with family, as a couple, or alone. In addition to regular trips, there are various programs available to explore Portugal by train, and among the many options, there is sure to be something that appeals to everyone. Have they ever imagined riding on a steam train that is over a century old? And what if they add a landscape as beautiful as the Douro River valley? All of this is possible on the Historic Douro train, which, during the months of June to October, takes passengers on a genuine journey back in time by the river, between Régua and Tua, marked by the beauty of the landscape classified by UNESCO as World Heritage. If they like this suggestion, they can take another trip, this time aboard the Historic Vouga Train, which travels from Aveiro to Macinhata do Vouga.


After visiting the Macinhata do Vouga Railway Museum (Museu Ferroviário de Macinhata do Vouga), travelers can visit the historical center of Águeda on the return trip.
