Itineraries vary from client to client and our DMC partner Terranova Costa Rica shares an 11-day sample itinerary based on Costa Rica Exploration below:
Costa Rica is a little country- about the size of West Virginia, situated in Central America bordering Nicaragua and Panama and between the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans. It has an amazing wealth of 5% of the total species on Earth with only 0.03% of Earth’s surface. The location between two very different oceans and the different heights of Costa Rica create the perfect environment for a huge diversity of animals, trees, and plants in a tiny condensed area. And if we add to this the 7 active volcanoes, and the warm weather with two distinctive periods you have the perfect place for a vacation filled with nature, adventures, and leisure.
The country has easy or direct access from the main USA and International Airports.
Take part in Costa Rica’s world-class attractions:
Rainforest canopy tours, zip lining, volcano adventures, white water rafting, bird watching, coffee tours. Pristine beaches, sports fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing.
Pacuare River In the Caribbean region of Costa Rica, there is a preserved zone of perfect beauty that starts near the town of Siquirres and includes approximately 25,000 acres as it descends the Talamanca Mountain Range. This is the region identified as Pacuare, which establishes one of the most significant nature preserves in the region. Its vicinity to the lowlands and its high yearly rainfall blend to sustain the elaborate life systems whose bounty makes for exceptional picturesque beauty.
Settled within this zone, the Pacuare River creates the northern border of Central America’s most extensive network of national parks and reserves and contributes for some of the exceptionally good white water rafting in Latin America. Officially named a “Wild and Scenic River,” the water flows deep inside the striking virgin rainforest, coursing through dense vegetation that covers the sides of rugged canyons towering above the riverbanks. The rainforest’s dense undergrowth provides shelter to monkeys, sloths, jaguars, ocelots, and many other species of mammals and birds.
Arenal Positioned within Costa Rica’s fertile northern lowlands, the Arenal Volcano is an unavoidable presence while traveling within this part of the country. Arenal is considered Costa Rica’s most active volcano and has been studied by seismologists for many years. With its perfectly conical shape, it allows breathtaking views of the volcanic action in the summit.
Papagayo Gulf Settled in the northern Pacific Coast just north of Playa Panama. The Papagayo Gulf is very beautiful and still as wild as the first day it emerged from the Pacific Ocean. If you need to get away from people and experience the nature of Costa Rica, this is a fabulous area to explore.
Papagayo is located in Guanacaste, close to the Liberia International Airport. Rest always go hand in hand in the Gulf of Papagayo, with mesmerizing ocean views and private settings and activities, as well as verdant tropical vegetation at every turn. If you like sunny days, this is your spot. Here you can find large resort developments, as well as small intimate hotels and vicinity to lots of national parks like as Santa Rosa and Rincon de la Vieja.
San José Founded in 1737, San Jose today is a rambling city. Costa Rica’s capital and the biggest city in the country, San Jose is estimated to be among the most cultured cities in Latin America. Here, you can find not only great hotels but many excellent restaurants, shopping centers, museums, bars, colorful markets and a fast-paced nightlife.
Cuddled inside tropical heaven; San Jose sits in the middle of the country in the Central Valley and is surrounded by gorgeous virgin cloud forests. Working as a core to the rest of the country, San Jose is the perfect hub to tour Costa Rica. Downtown San Jose is a maze of streets and avenues, where you can find most of the city’s museums as well as bars, hotels, plazas and all sorts of activities that happen permanently in the city.
